Project Update: Enhanced Environment, Sound Integration, and Enemy AI

In this development cycle, I focused on deepening the game’s immersion and challenge by upgrading the environment, integrating dynamic sound cues, and significantly improving enemy AI behaviors.

Environment & Sound:

The environment now features dense volumetric fog, dramatic lighting, and richly detailed architecture to create a more immersive and moody setting. Also added footsteps and added sound detection logic for enemy AI.

Enemy AI has been overhauled to react more intelligently and realistically to the player’s actions. AI agents now use multiple senses—sight, hearing, and damage detection—to make decisions:

Sight: Enemies will actively patrol and can spot the player, initiating a chase if detected.

Hearing: Loud noises, such as gunshots or footsteps, prompt enemies to investigate the source, adding unpredictability to stealth approaches.

Damage: If enemies take damage, they will attempt to pinpoint the attacker, seek cover, and call for backup if possible.

Additionally, enemy pathfinding is more advanced. AI units will attempt to avoid incoming fire and reposition tactically. When injured, they prioritize finding cover before re-engaging, making combat encounters more dynamic and challenging.
